On June 3, 2026, Habay-La-Neuve was the starting point of the 3rd stage of the 2026 Tour de Wallonie cycling race.
Even though I'm not a cycling enthusiast, I mainly saw it as an opportunity to follow a set route and ride along roads that I hoped were relatively unknown.
So I downloaded the day's route from the Tour de Wallonie website and initially imported it into Calimoto.
I could then get a clearer idea of the route and, most importantly, thanks to Calimoto, obtain a GPX 1.1 file that I could send directly to the BMW Motorrad Connected app with complete peace of mind, and therefore, to my trusty Connected Ride Navigator (CRN).
Over time (I've been using Calimoto for several years now) and after trying most mobile and online applications (MyRoute-App, Kurviger, etc.) for creating, editing, and so on, my routes, I realized that Calimoto was the solution that best suited my needs!
And eventually, Calimoto offered me a partnership, which means you can benefit from an additional perk if you wish: either a free 30-day Premium trial or a 10% discount on your first year of Premium subscription.
The discount codes are:
- ALAINGSADVENTURE30: 30-day free Premium trial
ALAINGSADVENTURE10: 10% discount on your first year of Premium subscription
These offers are for new users only and can only be used through our website. Your personalized link:

The starting point for this stage, and therefore the ride, is Place Nothomb, heading towards Habay-La-Vielle, then Houdemont, and then up towards Mortinsart to reach the Porte de Gaume roundabout in Etalle.
Following the bypass, head towards Sainte-Marie, and then on to the Croix-Rouge.
I slightly modified the route, taking the road towards Ethe, and continuing towards Virton, with a short stop at Lake Rabais along the way.
The initial route, meanwhile, went down from the Red Cross towards the Arboretum, before descending to Lake Rabais via the Bouillonne road.
After a photo break, I arrive in Virton via the Route d’Arlon, and cannot help but admire the Art Deco façade of the former Lonniaux garage as I pass by.
Next comes Rue de La Roche, before heading off along the Dampicourt road.
After Meix-Devant-Virton, one of the anticipated challenges for the riders is the Côte de Gérouville, starting with a false flat and ending with a challenging climb through a series of bends.
The road then plunges down towards La Soye, to reach Jamoigne, and there, I discover a superb road, with impeccable surfacing and a beautiful series of bends: pure bliss! Having never ridden it before, I've discovered a new road that will become one of my favorites.
Now I just have to add it to my next rides.
The route continues towards Florenville and then on to Chassepierre, well-known in the region for its street performance festival.
A break by the Semois River where geese with their goslings bask in the sun. What a beautiful, peaceful sight!
After this relaxing break, I headed towards Herbeumont, via Saint-Cécile, and the descent of the hill climb.
Beautiful country roads led me towards Gribaumont and Martilli par de, where roadworks would put the CRN and Calimoto to the test, but no worries: the CRN is really great for easily avoiding these detours while staying as close as possible to the planned route.
I then headed back up towards Neufchâteau, where the climb to the lake must have been quite a challenge for the riders.
Next, I headed towards Mon Idée, where the road leads to Ebly, then Vaux-sur-Sûre for the finish line.
I left the route before Mon Idée, to return home, but also to enjoy the new surface of the N40 on the final bends that brought me back to Habay.
In conclusion, a lovely little ride starting from Habay, taking me along quiet country roads, which allowed me to discover some routes I hadn't yet explored.
