My R1200GSA - 9 years already!

It is with great joy that I share with you the memorable moments I have experienced alongside this mechanical marvel. From short rides to long journeys, epic adventures and a true love story have been woven between me and my motorcycle.

The R1200GSA remains one of the most remarkable motorcycles of all time.

A beast of adventure: From the first day I laid eyes on my BMW R1200GSA, I knew I was ready to conquer the world.

But first, I had to tame it: its height and weight, in particular. With its robust design, powerful engine, and ability to tackle any terrain, this motorcycle is a true beast of adventure. Over the years, it has taken me on winding roads, muddy tracks, and fast highways. It has never faltered and has always been ready to take on any challenge I throw at it.

Unforgettable memories: The journeys I've undertaken with my R1200GSA will forever be etched in my memory. From majestic mountains to rugged coastlines, this motorcycle has taken me to breathtaking landscapes. Every kilometer traveled has been an opportunity to discover new horizons, meet inspiring people, and experience unique adventures. Whether it's a solo road trip or a ride with fellow bikers, my R1200GSA has always been the perfect companion for every getaway.
What truly sets Lorelei apart is its versatility. Whether you prefer long highway journeys, dirt roads, or mountain rides, this motorcycle can handle it all with grace. Its adjustable suspension system, thoughtful ergonomics, and comfortable seat make every trip a pleasant and unique experience, even over long distances. I've always felt confident and in control thanks to the remarkable performance of my R1200GSA.

Beyond its exceptional performance, the R1200GSA also opened the doors to a community of enthusiasts for me. Through online forums, events, and rallies, I met fellow riders who shared the same passion for this iconic motorcycle. The lively discussions, advice, and stories shared with other R1200GSA owners strengthened my love for this bike and allowed me to connect with people from all over the world. Throughout these nine years with my BMW R1200GSA, I want to emphasize one essential aspect that contributed to its longevity and reliability: adherence to regular maintenance. Despite the miles covered and the challenging terrain I subjected my motorcycle to, I never encountered a major mechanical issue. This testifies to the exceptional quality of the R1200GSA, but also to the importance of taking care of your ride and having a reputable dealer! In this respect, Ets Lejeune Motosport has already proven itself and contributes to the longevity of my motorcycle.

Of course, like any vehicle, my R1200GSA has had a few minor recalls over the years. These recalls for the fork and the driveshaft, while necessary, have in no way diminished my confidence in my motorcycle. On the contrary, they underscored BMW's commitment to the safety and satisfaction of its owners. The recalls were handled quickly, efficiently, and free of charge, demonstrating the commitment of both the brand and the dealership to their customers.

However, it is essential to note that preventative maintenance and regular upkeep play a crucial role in a motorcycle's longevity. I have always been meticulous in adhering to the manufacturer's recommended service intervals, entrusting my R1200GSA to qualified professionals and using genuine parts. These simple actions, such as regular oil changes, filter replacements, and meticulous inspection of all components, have helped keep my motorcycle in impeccable condition and prevent mechanical problems.

It's important to understand that motorcycles, like any complex mechanical equipment, require regular maintenance to ensure proper operation and longevity. Maintenance allows for the detection and resolution of potential problems before they turn into costly breakdowns. Furthermore, it ensures the correct adjustment of components, optimizes performance, and preserves the safety of the rider and passengers. Of course, as you've probably noticed, I've added a few accessories to my R1200GSA over the years. While it's already perfectly equipped as standard to suit most riders, accessorizing it makes it truly unique.

But one of the main changes was having the suspension custom-made by Wunderlich, using Wilbers WESA shocks. This was necessary to accommodate my aging body and allow me to continue riding my R1200GSA. The choice of tires was also crucial: after some trial and error, and being particularly disappointed with the original tires to the point of considering replacing the entire bike, I finally found the perfect fit with Dunlop Mutants. These tires provide excellent road feel and allow me to ride safely in all weather conditions.

Please don't ask me for a financial breakdown of these six years: not only would it be unreasonable, but also, when you love something, you don't count the cost! But I can certainly talk about the happiness and enjoyment, which are more than positive. Despite six years together, I'm still just as happy in the saddle and think to myself after every ride: What an incredible machine! As you can see, a true love affair has blossomed between my R1200GSA and me, and the flame of passion between us burns brightly, far from dying out.
